“One time in like 5th grade I had this teacher and he gave us bottles of stuff like shampoo, shaving cream, toothpaste and told us to squeeze it all out. Of course we were like heck yea and did it. Then he was like “Now, try to shove it back in the container” We all tried, and then stared at him confused. When we all gave up, he said “In the moment, you were so consumed with what you are doing that you didn’t realize the mess you were making. Then later it was so quickly and easily it poured out, you realize it is also impossible to put it all back in. Remember this for the rest of your life when it comes to words that come out of your mouth”. And we were like 10 so we were like alright, whatever man, but somehow to this day I think of it constantly.”

Our words are much like toothpaste, once they come out of your mouth you cannot take them back. Yes, nice words can be used to try and fix things and make people feel better but the mess will never be cleaned up completely. Teach children that it is important they are smart with their words and do not just blurt out the first thing that comes to mind.
